How this is calculated
Each letter is swapped for its counterpart in the Unicode Mathematical Italic blocks: capitals from U+1D434 and lowercase from U+1D44E. The one exception is the lowercase h, which Unicode does not include in that block and instead unifies with the Planck constant at U+210E. Unicode defines no italic digits, so numbers, spaces, and punctuation are left unchanged.

FAQ
- Why does the letter h look slightly different?
- Unicode does not include an italic small h in the usual block, so the standard reuses the Planck constant symbol in its place. It is the accepted italic h and reads correctly in running text, though a sharp eye may notice it is not a perfect match for the other letters.
- Why are the numbers not italic?
- Unicode has no italic digit forms, so 0 to 9 are left as normal characters. Only the letters A to Z and a to z have italic code points to map to.
- Is the output real text or a picture?
- It is real Unicode text. You can copy, paste, select, and search it like any other text, which is why it works in bios and posts that offer no italic button.
