How this is calculated
Each letter and digit is swapped for its matching character in the Unicode Mathematical Bold blocks: capitals from U+1D400, lowercase from U+1D41A, and digits from U+1D7CE. Spaces, punctuation, and any character with no bold form are left unchanged. Because the output is standard Unicode, how bold it looks depends on the font the reader is using.

FAQ
- Is this real bold text or an image?
- It is real Unicode text, not an image. That means you can copy and paste it into most apps and websites, and it stays selectable and searchable. It is not the same as the bold you get from a formatting button, which is why it works in places that have no such button.
- Why do some characters not turn bold?
- Unicode only defines bold forms for A to Z, a to z, and 0 to 9. Spaces, punctuation, emoji, and accented letters have no bold code point, so they are left exactly as you typed them.
- Will it look the same everywhere?
- Almost always, because these characters are part of the Unicode standard. A few older apps or fonts may show a fallback box for a character they do not include, so it is worth pasting a sample where you plan to use it before you commit.
