This calculator shows the healthy weight range for your height, based on the normal BMI band used by the World Health Organization. Enter your height in centimetres or inches and it returns the low and high end of the range in kilograms or pounds. It is a quick way to see a target range rather than a single number.
How this is calculated
The World Health Organization defines a normal body mass index as 18.5 to 25. Since BMI is weight divided by height squared, the calculator inverts that formula: in metric it multiplies each BMI cutoff by height in metres squared, and in imperial it uses weight equals BMI times height in inches squared divided by 703. BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat, so treat the range as a general guide.

FAQ
- How is the healthy weight range defined?
- It maps the WHO normal BMI band of 18.5 to 25 onto your height. The low end is the weight at a BMI of 18.5, and the high end is the weight at a BMI of 25.
- Is BMI accurate for everyone?
- BMI is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. It does not separate muscle from fat, so very muscular people can read as overweight while others within range may still carry excess fat. Use it as a general guide.
- What if my weight is outside the range?
- A reading slightly outside the band is not automatically a problem. Consider waist size, activity, and overall health, and talk to a clinician before making major changes.
