This calculator shows how much weight you have lost and what percentage of your starting weight that represents. Percentage lost is a fairer progress measure than pounds alone, since the same drop means more for a lighter person.

How this is calculated

Weight lost is the starting weight minus the current weight. Percentage lost is that difference divided by the starting weight, times 100. The calculation works with any unit as long as both weights use the same one. A negative result means weight was gained.

How to use

  1. Enter your starting weight.
  2. Enter your current weight in the same unit.
  3. Read the weight lost and the percentage lost.

Examples

  • 200 to 180: 20 lost, 10%
  • 90 to 85.5: 4.5 lost, 5%

FAQ

How is the weight loss percentage calculated?
Subtract your current weight from your starting weight, divide that by your starting weight, then multiply by 100.
Does the unit matter?
No. You can use pounds or kilograms as long as both weights use the same unit, because the percentage is a ratio.
