How this is calculated
The days-remaining figure is the exact number of UTC calendar days from the reference date to the target date, so it is timezone-free and counts leap days. The year, month, and day breakdown uses the standard relativedelta convention over the same span.

- What if the target date is in the past?
- The days-remaining count becomes negative to show the date has passed, and the breakdown still reports the size of the gap.
- Is today counted?
- The count is the difference between the two dates, so a target equal to the from date shows zero days remaining.
- Are leap years handled?
- Yes. The day count is a direct calendar-day difference, so any February 29 in the range is included.
