Find the mean, median, and mode of a list of numbers, plus the sum, range, and smallest and largest values. Type or paste your numbers separated by commas, spaces, or new lines. Useful for grades, survey data, and quick statistics.

How this is calculated

The mean is the sum divided by the count. The median is the middle value after sorting, or the average of the two middle values when the count is even. The mode is every value tied for the most occurrences; when all values appear once there is no mode. Range is the largest value minus the smallest.

How to use

  1. Enter your numbers separated by commas, spaces, or line breaks.
  2. Read the mean, median, and mode.
  3. Read the sum, range, minimum, and maximum.

Examples

  • One mode: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4 has a mode of 2
  • Two modes: 4, 4, 5, 5, 6 has modes of 4 and 5

FAQ

What is the difference between mean, median, and mode?
The mean is the average, the median is the middle value in sorted order, and the mode is the value that appears most often. A data set can have one mode, several modes, or none.
How is the median found for an even count?
Sort the numbers and take the two in the middle, then average them. For 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 the middle pair is 3 and 4, so the median is 3.5.
