DOTS is the strength score most federations now use in place of Wilks. It scales your total against an updated body-weight curve so a lighter and a heavier lifter can be ranked on the same scale. Enter your numbers to see where your total lands.
How this is calculated
The DOTS coefficient is 500 divided by a fourth-order polynomial of body weight in kilograms, using the published sex-specific DOTS constants. Your DOTS score is that coefficient multiplied by your total lifted. The curve is fit so that top totals score in a similar range regardless of weight class.
How to use
- Enter your body weight in kilograms and select your sex.
- Enter your total lifted in kilograms (squat plus bench plus deadlift).
- Read your DOTS coefficient and score.
Examples
- Male, 90 kg, 600 kg total:
Coefficient 0.65, DOTS score 387.96 - Female, 60 kg, 300 kg total:
Coefficient 1.11, DOTS score 332.56
FAQ
- What is a good DOTS score?
- As a rough guide, around 300 is a strong intermediate, 400 is advanced, and 500 or above is elite. Standards shift over time as the sport progresses.
- Why did federations switch from Wilks to DOTS?
- DOTS uses a newer data set and is seen as fairer across the lightest and heaviest classes, where the older Wilks curve was criticized for bias.
