Paste a draft and see the counts that matter for on-page SEO: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, and estimated reading time. Handy for hitting a target length on a blog post, meta text, or product copy. It updates as you type and nothing leaves your browser.
How this is calculated
Words are runs separated by whitespace. Characters count every character; the no-spaces figure removes all whitespace. A sentence is counted for each run of ending punctuation (period, question mark, or exclamation mark). Paragraphs are blocks separated by a blank line. Reading time uses 200 words per minute, rounded up to the next whole minute.

FAQ
- How is reading time calculated?
- It divides the word count by 200 words per minute, a common average for adult silent reading, and rounds up to the next whole minute.
- How are sentences counted?
- Each run of sentence-ending punctuation counts as one sentence, so a period, question mark, or exclamation mark ends a sentence. An ellipsis like "..." counts once.
- What word count should I aim for?
- It depends on intent. Informational articles that rank well often run 1,000 to 2,000 words, while a product page or meta description is far shorter. Match the depth of the pages already ranking for your term rather than a fixed number.
