Calculator by Toolsloft ↗Convert a headline or title to proper title case, where the important words are capitalized and short words like "of", "the", and "and" stay lowercase in the middle. The first and last words are always capitalized. Paste your text and copy the corrected version.
How this is calculated
The tool capitalizes the first and last word and every major word, and keeps a fixed list of minor words (articles, coordinating conjunctions, and short prepositions such as a, an, the, of, and, or, to) lowercase when they fall in the middle. This follows the common title case style used by AP and Chicago style guides. Existing spacing is preserved.

FAQ
- Which words are kept lowercase?
- A fixed list of short words stays lowercase in the middle of a title, including a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, if, in, of, on, or, the, to, and vs. Any of these is still capitalized when it is the first or last word.
- Does it always capitalize the first and last word?
- Yes. The first and last words are always capitalized, even when they are on the small-word list, which matches standard title case rules.
- How is this different from a plain capitalize-each-word tool?
- A plain converter capitalizes every word, including small ones. This tool follows title case style, so minor words in the middle stay lowercase for a cleaner, more correct headline.
