How this is calculated
Each letter or digit is swapped for its counterpart in the matching Unicode block: the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols blocks for bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif and monospace, Enclosed Alphanumerics for bubble text, and Halfwidth and Fullwidth Forms for wide text. Strikethrough and underline instead append a combining mark (U+0336 and U+0332) after every character. Several blocks reserve certain letters because Letterlike Symbols already defines them, so those specific glyphs are substituted from there. Characters with no styled counterpart are left exactly as typed.

FAQ
- Is this real text or an image?
- It is real Unicode text, not an image. You can copy and paste it into most apps and websites and it stays selectable and searchable. It is not the same as the bold or italic you get from a formatting button, which is exactly why it works in places that have no such button.
- Why do some characters not change?
- Unicode only defines styled forms for certain ranges. Most styles cover A to Z and a to z, and only some cover 0 to 9. Italic, cursive, gothic, bold script and bold fraktur have no digit forms at all. Punctuation, emoji, and accented letters are left exactly as you typed them because no styled counterpart exists.
- Which style should I use for an Instagram bio?
- Bold and cursive are the most widely supported and the most readable at small sizes. Bubble and wide are more decorative and can be harder to read on a phone. Whichever you pick, paste a sample where you plan to use it first, because a few older apps show a fallback box for characters their font does not include.
- Will screen readers handle it?
- Often poorly. Styled Unicode letters are separate code points from ordinary ones, so a screen reader may read them character by character, mispronounce them, or skip them. It is worth keeping your name and any important information in plain text and using styled text for decoration only.
