Calculator by Toolsloft ↗- Net carbs (g)
- 17
This calculator finds net carbs by subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols from total carbohydrates. Net carbs are the figure most low-carb and keto eaters track, since fiber and most sugar alcohols have little effect on blood sugar.
How this is calculated
Net carbs equal total carbohydrates minus fiber minus sugar alcohols, following the common low-carb convention. The result is floored at zero. Some people count only half of certain sugar alcohols, so treat this as a standard estimate and adjust for your own approach.
How to use
- Enter the total carbohydrates from the nutrition label.
- Enter the grams of fiber.
- Enter the grams of sugar alcohols, then read the net carbs.
Examples
- 30g carbs, 8g fiber, 5g sugar alcohols:
17g net carbs - 10g carbs, 12g fiber, 0g sugar alcohols:
0g net carbs
FAQ
- What are net carbs?
- Net carbs are the carbohydrates your body digests into blood sugar. You find them by subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols from the total carbohydrates on the label.
- Why are fiber and sugar alcohols subtracted?
- Fiber is not broken down into sugar, and most sugar alcohols are only partly absorbed, so both have little effect on blood sugar. Low-carb and keto eaters subtract them to track the carbs that matter.
